This example is terribly wrong. What you need first for a self driving car is execution safety, other considerations coming second. And C++ is well known to be incredibly good at disseminating vicious bugs everywhere, even by experimented programmers. C++ is still here for historical reasons, but beyond that, it's not a reasonable choice anymore.
